Sarah Laird
Provisional Psychologist
Sarah is a registered psychologist with a grounded, collaborative approach to therapy. Her focus is on creating a space where clients feel comfortable exploring the complexities of their experiences, particularly where these involve longstanding patterns, identity concerns, trauma, anxiety, or eating disorders.
Her clinical style is direct and engaged, with an emphasis on building genuine therapeutic rapport. She works from a person-centred framework and believe humour, warmth, and flexibility are essential tools in the room. She offers both short- and long-term therapy and adapts her approach based on what each client finds most helpful.
She draws on a range of evidence-based models including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Enhanced CBT for Eating Disorders (CBT-E), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), EMDR, Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT), Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT), and Narrative Therapy. She also incorporates elements of Internal Family Systems (IFS) where clinically appropriate, and works within phased trauma frameworks when supporting clients with histories of complex trauma.
