Eating Disorders

Eating Disorders (including binge-eating, bulimia, and anorexia nervosa).

Eating disorders involve problems with body image, food and eating. Whilst it is not uncommon for people to watch what they eat at times, when such behaviours become extreme or interfere with a person’s lifestyle, they become problematic.

Eating disorders can both result from and cause a number of negative effects. These include depression, anxiety, guilt, shame, feelings of worthlessness, difficult experiences in childhood, social withdrawal, lack of self-care and potentially serious physical health consequences.

If you are suffering from an eating disorder, you may not feel as though you need or want treatment. But it is really important that you do actually have treatment, as the longer your eating disorder goes on, the more difficult it becomes to overcome the eating problems and the worse the significant effects on your body.

Our therapists at Axis Clinic have extensive experience working with eating disorders including binge-eating, bulimia and anorexia nervosa.
